Wednesday Wish List: Giving Edition

Wednesday, December 12, 2012

Dr. Suess said it best! It's easy to forget the reasons why Christmas is so special and get wrapped up (literally) in all the holiday shopping madness. Typically, I do a Wednesday Wish List of all the things I'm currently craving. But since it's the season for us to think of others, I thought it was appropriate to make this week's edition a giving one! Here are some ways and organizations that make giving easy this time of year and year-round.

Red Cross Relief Fund  - As simple as donating $10 via text or free by donating blood.

Give 2 The Troops - You can donate your old phones and printer cartridges, send a requested item, or give a monetary donation. Here is a great list of other organizations and ways to donate to our troops.

National Coalition Against Domestic Violence - Send your old electronics or host an electronics donation program with friends, family or coworkers, donate gently warn clothing (purging creates more space to update your closet ;) ) or donate a used car.

Free donations - your time. Reach out to local organizations you are interested in and ask what volunteer programs they offer. One Brick is a great site for volunteering opportunities in your area, check under chapters for the one closest to you.

So you agree...tis better to give than to receive.
