I've recently fallen head over heels for antique and vintage shopping! With the abundancy of places to look for treasures, it would be a shame not to. I've been to the Alameda Flea Market a few times now and have been lucky to always find a steal! This trip I scored a new tray for our living room, a vintage Pendleton blazer, vintage women's fashion advertising and a chrome 3-tier serving tray.
Here are my tips for first timers (though I'm no where near an expert!):
Be early! The saying 'the early bird gets the worm' might have been invented because of flea markets.
Bring cash - it'll help with negotiating with vendors. And a sturdy bag for your loot!
Wear comfy shoes - I can't stress this enough. Yesterday I walked for over 4 hours and didn't even come close to seeing all the offerings.
Have what you are looking for in mind. There is an overwhelming supply of options and it can become daunting if you don't know what you are looking for.
