I have a tendency to find things I like and stick to a routine, whether it's a beauty product, a brand, a walking route or a restaurant. While I can't complain, I do know that I'm missing some amazing things out there by not being a bit more open minded. So, I hope you enjoy this new personal growth series and can provide suggestions on places to eat in the bay, books I have to read and beauty items that you swear by! (Sorry in advance for all the text in this post!)
Book: I received this book for Christmas and talk about perfect timing! I'm sure I'm not the only twenty-something out there that says at least once a day 'WTF am I doing with my life?' This book totally reinforces that you 1. aren't alone 2. aren't crazy, and 3. that it's okay to think that sometimes. I imagine picking this up book when I'm having a down day and flipping to a random page for a little pick me up.
A few that really stood out to me right now:
8. Those friends who are uber-successful in their 20s are the outliers and not the norm
36. Your 20s might be less about finding what you want to do, and more about finding what you do not want to do
67. Your parents are your always ally
72. No one knows what they're doing
*Notes: I had the beau pick 3 random numbers a night and I read them aloud. A fun way to read the book with someone! Not convinced? Start with 21 of Paul's secrets.
Restaurant: I love food (there I said it)! I've been really lucky to enjoy some pretty amazing meals and Acquerello is certainly one of them. My favorite course was a tie between the swordfish and the cheese course. I mean they roll out an entire cheese cart for you to select from! Let's just say it's a dream come true for me, and leave it at that.
Beauty: I never have and never will claim to be a beauty expert, though I'm like any lady and like to get dolled up. Ever since I was little my Grams taught me that skincare is key. Recently a girlfriend of mine introduced me to Arbonne after I had told her that I was getting small bumps while using a particular face wash. She mentioned how Arbonne is 100% vegan, uses only natural ingredients and goes through rigorous testing. Needless to say, I'm hooked. My skin cleared up, the products leave my skin feeling and smelling fresh and they go well with the rest of my beauty routine.
So you agree... it's good to get out of your comfort zone
